One Piece: 10 Broken Devil Fruits That Are Straight Hacks

The Devil Fruits power system is pretty much inseparable from One Piece. After all, a good chunk of the series’ battle structure is based on it. At first glance, the Devil Fruits appear to be a simple power system with a rather basic and straightforward premise. However, if one really looks into it, they'd realize that there's more than what meets the eye. As Oda has yet to unveil the mystery shrouding the Devil Fruits, we can only give it the treatment of the simple ones.

What's undeniable is that oftentimes, some obviously overpowered devil fruits get downplayed/nerfed by Oda for obvious reasons. A devil fruit as broken as these could drastically alter the storyline depending on how they were used. One thing is for sure though; if these devil fruits were allowed to shine without moderation, they’d more or less damage the One Piece ecosystem.

10 Slow-Slow Fruit

The Slow-Slow Fruit, or Noro Noro no Mi, is a devil fruit that fell victim to the cruel narrative. This devil fruit allows Foxy to release beams that slow down the opponent for 30 seconds. And for that duration, the opponent would be completely vulnerable.

Anything and everything is fair game to these Noro Noro beams. In the hands of the right user, it can prove deadly.

9 Mirror-Mirror Fruit

The Mirror-Mirror Fruit is a devil fruit that grants plenty of convenient abilities. Some of these abilities include but are not limited to: access to a pocket dimension with a variety of uses, the ability to reflect attacks, and extremely fast travel.

If one were to master the abilities provided by this devil fruit, then even a Yonko wouldn’t be able to lay hands on them. It’s perfect for self-preservation.

8 Weapon-Weapon Fruit

In theory, the Weapon-Weapon Fruit allows its user to transform into any weapon, be it a blade or a canon. Now with that in mind, everyone can come up with a few completely-viable theories that support this devil fruit’s supremacy.

A nuclear warhead, for example, is a weapon. If the user gained the ability to transform into that, then it’d be a pretty big deal, to say the least.

7 Human-Human Fruit

Despite being a devil fruit that every fan is fairly acquainted with; the Human-Human Fruit somehow still managed to fly under everyone’s radar. Allegedly, this fruit allows its consumer to transform into a human, as we’ve seen with Chopper.

Then again, one has to understand that not every human is capable of becoming a genius doctor at such a young age. So it’s either that Chopper is an anomaly, or the devil fruits grants more than what we think it does such as super intelligence.

6 Love-Love Fruit

A devil fruit that directly targets primal emotions will always be troublesome to deal with. Hancock’s devil fruit, the Love-Love Fruit, targets lust-- an emotion that can be controlled, but not eliminated. As long as a person, regardless of gender, feels lust, they’re doomed against this devil fruit.

Moreso, through Hancock’s encounter with Momonga, we can assume that this devil fruit works on heavy-hitters as well.

5 Bird-Bird Fruit, Model: Phoenix

The higher the power levels are, the closer the gap gets to be. It gets to point in the anime that battles amongst the upper brass of One Piece are fought with sheer perseverance instead of brute force.

Perseverance as in stamina, adaptability, and defense; or just an insane recovery speed if you were Marco. This phoenix fruit gifted Marco an arsenal of skills which made him near undefeatable. It would take at least a Yonko to incapacitate him.

4 Glint-Glint Fruit

There’s nothing faster than light, and that’s common knowledge. So naturally, when a devil fruit with the capability of granting its consumer the properties of light exists; it’s bound to be broken. The Glint-Glint Fruit does exactly that; its user is able to conjure, manipulate, and transform into light at will. Had Oda not considerably tuned this devil fruit down, Kizaru would’ve been invincible.

3 Paw-Paw Fruit

Don’t let the Paw-Paw Fruit's cutesy name distract you from the totally broken set of abilities it imparts. This fruit is entirely premised on the force of repulsion. Whatever comes in the user’s path will be repelled, be it a kickass beam cannon or an intangible sensation such as fatigue.

Other auxiliary skills granted by this devil fruit include extremely fast travel. By repelling themselves, or anyone else for that matter, the user can send themselves flying to any destination they desire.

2 Hobby-Hobby Fruit

The Hobby-Hobby Fruit is a devil fruit that can end it all in but a single touch. Once the user touches their target, it’s, in all sense of the statement, game over for them. Moreover, once a person is transformed into a toy and a contract is established, their very existence will be erased from the world. Not a single soul would be able to remember them if the effects are still ongoing. This fruit also comes with a bonus effect of eternal youth.

1 Op-Op Fruit

True to its name, the Op-Op fruit is, in all likelihood, the most overpowered devil fruit to be introduced to the series thus far. In theory, the user can become akin to a god within the "operating room" they create.

That being said, it’s pretty obvious that Law and this devil fruit were drastically nerfed by Oda. If it was allowed to rein free without constraints, then what is a Yonko to a god?
