The Straw Hat Pirates are a tremendously powerful crew that comes from East Blue and are led by none other than the protagonist of One Piece, Monkey D. Luffy.
Upon setting out on his journey, Luffy set a target of gathering around 10 crewmates, and with the latest addition of Jinbe, he's now found nine, leaving room for one more character to fit in. Although there are lots of characters that fans want to see as a part of the Straw Hat Pirate crew, only a few can actually join. Here are 5 characters who could be the potential 11th crewmate and 5 others who would never join the crew.
10 Candidate: Carrot
One of the Musketeers of Inuarashi who also trained under Pedro, Carrot is a rabbit Mink who has traveled quite a lot with the Straw Hat Pirates already. She became a part of the crew when Luffy set off for Whole Cake Island and has been with them ever since.
Carrot joining is highly likely as she's carrying the hopes and dreams of Pedro who sacrificed himself to see to it that Luffy escapes from Whole Cake Island. Furthermore, she's also great at fighting and handles the job of a lookout pretty well.
9 Would Never Join: Caesar Clown
A former Navy scientist, Caesar Clown appeared as the main antagonist of the Punk Hazard arc of the story. Since then, he traveled with the Straw Hat Pirates right until the Tea Party at Whole Cake Island.
Caesar is one of the most despicable characters in the world of One Piece, having experimented on children and killed thousands with his chemical weapons. While he does have some interesting moments, he certainly doesn't fit the description of a Straw Hat.
8 Candidate: O-Tama
Tama is a newly introduced character who lives with Tenguyama Hitetsu in Wano's Kuri region. Four years before the current storyline, Tama encountered Portgas D. Ace and got extremely attached to him. The two promised to sail the seas together when Tama grew older, however, Ace died shortly afterward.
Now, his brother, Luffy, has gotten attached to Tama in a similar manner and it is possible that she'll join the crew as an apprentice at the end of the arc so the promise she had with Ace gets fulfilled.
7 Would Never Join: Charlotte Katakuri
One of Luffy's toughest opponents ever, Charlotte Katakuri is the leader of the Three Sweet Commanders of the Big Mom Pirates. Although he saw Luffy as just an enemy during the beginning of the arc, this changed as the two continued to fight.
By the end, Katakuri gained great respect for Luffy and was relieved that Luffy left Whole Cake Island safely. While he is an incredible character, Katakuri has a lot of people to look after and it would make more sense if he allied with Luffy in the future, instead of joining him.
6 Candidate: Nefertari Vivi
Vivi is a former Straw Hat Pirate who traveled with the crew from Whiskey Peak to Alabasta. Her time with the crew was incredibly fun, however, her responsibilities as a princess saw to it that she left the crew at the end of the Alabasta arc.
In the future, however, it is highly likely that Vivi will get the chance to sail with the Straw Hat Pirates once again and become a part of the crew anew.
5 Would Never Join: Trafalgar Law
A member of the Worst Generation like Luffy, Trafalgar Law is the Captain of the Heart Pirates. He's accumulated a bounty of 500 million berries over the years and is an elite pirate.
Law has traveled with the Straw Hat crew since the events of Punk Hazard, however, at the end of the day, he is a rival to Luffy when it comes to finding the One Piece. Once the events of Wano are over, Law will, more likely than not, go his own way.
4 Candidate: Marco The Phoenix
The former First Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates, Marco had joined forces with Luffy to take down Kaido and free Wano Country in the process.
Since he's an incredibly powerful character and swore to protect Luffy, Marco is a fit for the crew. While he does have people to look after at Sphinx Island, Luffy beating Kaido would help him gain great influence, and in doing so, claim Sphinx Island as his own territory.
3 Would Never Join: Eustass Kid
Eustass Kid captains the Kid Pirates and just like Luffy and Law, he is a member of the Worst Generation as well. Kid is incredibly tough as a fighter and he aims to take down Kaido as well.
Right now, he's joined forces with Luffy, however, it is easy to see that once the war is over, Kid will separate from the alliance and challenge Luffy for the title of Pirate King. Kid is one of Luffy's biggest rivals and his joining the crew is simply not possible.
2 Candidate: Yamato
The son of Kaido, Yamato is another character who had familiarised with Portgas D. Ace when he visited the land of Wano. Being the son of a Yonko, he's an incredibly strong character that would be a perfect fit for the crew, but more importantly, he's someone who wants to be Kozuki Oden.
Like Oden went to Laugh Tale with Roger, it would make sense for him to follow the same path and get aboard the Thousand Sunny to reach this destination as well.
1 Would Never Join: Kin'emon
Fox Fire Kin'emon is another character who has traveled with the Straw Hat Pirates for quite some time now. Joining them at Punk Hazard, he's finally reached his destination and aims to free Wano by taking down Kaido.
Kin'emon, although strong and reliable, isn't someone who would be willing to leave Wano Country once the war is over. If he does survive, it would make sense for his character to spend his days serving Momonosuke and Hiyori.
