Monkey D. Luffy is the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates, a crew that hails from the East Blue of the One Piece world. He's quite a powerful pirate who, just like countless others, is looking for the treasure of Gol D. Roger; the One Piece.
Luffy has become tremendously powerful over the course of his journey, and, right now, he's one of the most capable men on the seas. There are countless crews that Luffy can defeat on his own with the power that he's accumulated at this point. Here are five crews Luffy can easily beat on his own, as well as five against whom he'd really struggle.
10 Can Solo: Firetank Pirates
The Firetank Pirates are led by one of the Worst Generation members in Capone 'Gang' Bege. With a bounty of 350 million berries, Bege is a capable pirate whose strength isn't to be taken lightly.
However, Luffy is much stronger and capable than he and both his strong underlings in Gotti and Vito are. With is newly learned Future Sight and Advanced Ryou, the Firetank Pirates stand absolutely no chance against him.
9 Can't: Blackbeard Pirates
Captained by Marshall D. Teach, the Blackbeard Pirates are a powerful bunch and a Yonko crew of the New World. They're still growing in terms of power, but, even now, they're among the strongest on the seas. Their captain alone is stronger than Luffy at this point, and that is enough to prove that Luffy stands absolutely no chance against this mighty bunch in battle.
8 Can Solo: Hawkins Pirates
The Hawkins Pirates are also led by a member of the Worst Generation in Basil Hawkins who has a bounty of 320 million berries on her. Hawkins crew isn't all that powerful, and, other than him, there is only one known member in the group, a Mink called Faust.
For Luffy, taking care of this crew all on his own wouldn't be all that difficult, especially now that he knows how his powers work.
7 Can't: Beasts Pirates
The Beasts Pirates are a Yonko crew led by Kaido of the Beasts. With a bounty of over 4.6 billion Berries, Kaido is a monster to take on for any Worst Generation member in combat. Luffy, although strong, isn't anywhere near the level of Kaido.
This is evident from the fact that to defeat him and his crew, Luffy has had to team up with a bunch of other pirates, such as Law and Kid, and needed the support of the Samurai and the Minks.
6 Can Solo: Drake Pirates
Drake Pirates are a powerful bunch who hail from the North Blue. Their captain, known as "Red Flag" X Drake is one of the Worst Generation members. Drake had a sizable bounty of 222 million berries before the time-skip, and it has likely increased by a lot after the time-skip.
Although Drake is strong, he's still nowhere near the level of Luffy, and his crewmates don't seem to be any threat to him whatsoever. The Straw Hat captain can deal with them without much trouble at all.
5 Can't: Big Mom Pirates
Led by Charlotte Linlin, The Big Mom Pirates is a crew with tremendous strength and influence, as expected of a Yonko crew. Luffy recently fought Katakuri, one of Big Mom's subordinates, and barely managed to defeat him in battle.
When compared to Big Mom, Luffy is nowhere near that level whatsoever. It goes without saying that, for him, defeating the Big Mom Pirates isn't possible at all.
4 Can Solo: Bonney Pirates
Bonney Pirates come from the South Blue, and they're a powerful bunch led by one of the Worst Generation members in Jewelry Bonney. Unfortunately, like many other Worst Generation members, this crew doesn't have any noticeable members capable of doing any harm to Luffy in battle.
Bonney's ability itself is quite dangerous, but, with Ryou, Luffy can easily fight her from a distance and defeat her without much trouble.
3 Can't: Red-Hair Pirates
The Red-Hair Pirates are a Yonko crew who rose to this status 4 years before Luffy set out on his journey. They are led by the Yonko Red-Haired Shanks, a man who is known to be mighty powerful and influential.
Shanks has a bounty of over 4 billion berries on his head, and, what's more, he has capable subordinates who are strong enough to deal with Luffy together. For Luffy, defeating this bunch is definitely not going to be possible at the moment.
2 Can Solo: Heart Pirates
The Heart Pirates come from North Blue, and they're captained by none other than the Surgeon of Death, Trafalgar Law. Law himself is quite powerful and has a bounty of 500 million berries on his head.
However, there is a massive gap between him and Luffy when it comes to power. Law is nowhere near his level and would struggle to fight him even with the help of all his crewmates.
1 Can't: Whitebeard Pirates
The Whitebeard Pirates were the mightiest known pirate crew in the world of One Piece when they were active. They were led by the strongest man in the world, Edward Newgate.
This crew had 16 powerful Division Commanders, and all of them together are more than enough to deal with Luffy. Furthermore, Luffy has to get through Marco to even touch Whitebeard, which, at the moment, doesn't seem like he's capable of doing. Against this lot, Luffy will definitely lose.
