One Piece: 5 Devil Fruit Powers Nami Would Love To Have (& 5 She Doesn't Need)

Nami is the Straw Hats navigator and one of the main characters of One Piece. She's never been close to the strongest among her crewmates, but after the timeskip she did get considerably stronger. Being able to hold her own among the enemies the Straw Hats face is no small feat, but she undoubtedly wants to become stronger.

Getting a Devil Fruit ability may be just what Nami needs to keep up with her crew, but it would heavily depend on which one. There are plenty of Devil Fruit powers out there that Nami would absolutely hate to have, but there's also plenty she would leap at the chance to receive.

10 Love: Diamond Diamond Fruit

The Diamond Diamond fruit allows the user to transform their body into an incredibly hard diamond. Nami is always afraid of getting hurt and tends to hide behind her comrades when danger rears up. This power would be perfect for the navigator as she wouldn't have to worry about getting hurt again by most things.

Nami could help her crewmates on the front lines and make more aggressive tactical moves. It also helps that she enjoys jewels and would likely change her skin from time to time just to admire it.

9 Hate: Quake Quake Fruit

The Quake Quake fruit allows the user to cause incredibly powerful quakes, and it's said that this power could destroy the world. This fruit is considered to be the most powerful Paramecia, but it's not a good fit for Nami. It has an emphasis on strength and requires the user to get up in the fray for accurate attacks.

Nami doesn't have even close to the power Whitebeard has, so she wouldn't be able to use it very effectively. As she is used to fighting from range, she needs an ability that works with her style.

8 Love: Rumble Rumble Fruit

The Rumble Rumble fruit allows the user to fully control lightning, and they can even turn into it to avoid damage. Nami already has a certain amount of control over lightning with her staff that Usopp invented, but having the Rumble Rumble fruit would allow her to use it whenever she wants.

It would also give Nami greater control over lightning. As an additional plus, she would be completely immune to being harmed unless she decided to fight Luffy. Therefore, Nami wouldn't have to worry about being hurt again.

7 Hate: Bug Bug Fruit, Model: Rhinoceros Beetle

The Bug Bug fruit with the model Rhinoceros beetle lets the user either partially or fully transform into a rhinoceros beetle. Nami would hate having this ability with every fiber of her being and would refuse to use it.

Nami has a crippling fear of bugs and is seen several times in the anime freaking out when they show up, even going so far as to flee from the rest of the crew. There's no way she would ever want to have an ability like this one.

6 Love: Bird Bird Fruit, Model: Falcon

The Bird Bird fruit with the model Falcon allows the user to either partially or fully transform into a falcon. This is one of the few Devil Fruits that allows the wielder to freely fly. This would be perfect for Nami, as she already uses the weather to fight. Being up in the sky and out of harm's way would be the ideal place for Nami.

This could also help Nami when navigating, allowing her to get a literal birds-eye view of the surrounding area and reacting instead of waiting until danger hits the ship.

5 Hate: Urouge's Unnamed Devil Fruit

Urouge's Devil Fruit allows him to gain additional physical strength whenever he gets injured. Unlike Nami, Urouge is built to take damage with a large and sturdy build. Nami wouldn't survive if she tried to capitalize on an ability like this.

It also goes completely against Nami's current fighting style. She stays out of range of danger and attacks from afar, so having to get up close and personal would be completely new to her. This would be a power she would simply pray she'd never be able to use.

4 Love: Love Love Fruit

The Love Love fruit allows the user to turn anyone that is attracted to them to stone. Boa Hancock is the current user, and it's very effective as she is considered to be a beauty. Nami is also seen as attractive by others in the One Piece universe, so she would also be able to use it quite well.

It would make Nami a more effective combatant for the Straw Hats and would be a great power to combine with her sassy personality. Nami would absolutely love to get her hands on this Devil Fruit.

3 Hate: Soul Soul Fruit

The Soul Soul fruit allows the user to take portions of people's souls and put them in other non-living things. As shown by the Emperor Big Mom, this is an extremely powerful ability. However, Nami would never be able to bring herself to use it.

Nami knows what it's like to feel subjugated after her time under Arlong, so there's no way she could do the same to others. She doesn't have the selfishness and greed that Big Mom has that makes her capable of wielding this power to its fullest.

2 Love: Barrier Barrier Fruit

The Barrier Barrier fruit allows the user to form incredibly durable barriers and change their shape at will. For a backline fighter like Nami, this would be perfect. She's always worried about getting injured or attacked, so having a barrier she can release when threatened would be amazing.

This also wouldn't stop Nami from using her control over the weather, allowing her to attack and defend at the same time. This would also be beneficial to help save the ship if Nami realizes something is wrong while navigating.

1 Hate: Babanuki's SMILE Fruit

Babanuki's SMILE fruit made it so that a large yellow elephant head grew out of his chest and is capable of firing cannonballs from its trunk. Nami would be truly horrified if this is the ability she got. She is proud of her appearance and having an elephant head sprout from her chest would mortify her.

There's also the issue of size, as Nami is a good bit smaller than Babanuki and would probably be crushed by the elephant head. Out of all of the SMILE fruit abilities, this is probably the one Nami would hate the most.
