One Piece: Every Member of The Fire Tank Pirates, Ranked According To Likability

Led by Capone Bege, the Fire Tank Pirates are an infamous pirate crew that appears in the One Piece franchise. They have had an interesting history and, at times, feel like a series of contrasts; they once served under Big Mom, had an alliance with the Straw Hat Pirates, and have gone on their own missions. Although they seem to be high in number, only a few are actually named. And while they seem to have based their style off of a typical mafia family, they have shown themselves to be a loving family in the other sense of the word.

Let's take a look at some of the members of the Fire Tank Pirates and rank them by how likable they are. And remember, since we are looking at them through different parts of the story, there are bound to be spoilers.

5 Gotti

Gotti is the Fire Tank Pirates' assassin. He's rather scary and intimidating, as he is known to be violent with his enemies. He's also brutal enough to take on a Homie, a creature brought to life or sentience by the Soru Soru no Mi fruit, but he did have his reasons at the time.

That said, he does have his good points. He is rather loyal and has learned to obey Bege's orders without questioning them and will put anyone who's willing to disrespect his captain in their place. He's also implied to be protective of fellow Fire Tank pirate Vito, as he nearly killed Sanji for disrespecting him. On the other hand, killing Sanji wouldn't have been very advantageous to Bege, so he can be a little brash when it comes to his actions. He also fears his captain's wife, Charlotte Chiffon, although he is still loyal to her. She tends to treat him like a child, even pulling him by the ear when she is upset with him.

4 Vito

Also known by his "Monster Gun" epithet, Vito is a rather frog-like or snake-like creature. He initially seems affable enough, giving more respect to the people he's talking to than he's getting at the moment, and, throughout the story, he shows a softer side.

Although he respects the wishes of his superiors, he has shown to have sympathy and compassion for the people they have impacted. For example, he helped Sanji despite him being rude to him. And when Chiffon hurt people while looking for her twin sister, he was shown helping those who'd been attacked.

In many ways, he seems to be a character written to be relatable to the audience. He likes comics, especially one published in the World Economic Times. He does admire the evil Germa 66 but doesn't seem too aware of the whole situation. as he even admired Sanji for his connection to the group, despite him having renounced his ties to the organization. Finally, anyone who has "Monster Gun" as an epithet has to be doing something right.

3 Capone Bege

Capone Bege feels like the ultimate bad boy; after all, he was a mafia don that became a pirate! That said, he tends to conduct himself like a gentleman, in a well-bred and cultured manner. Even when he talks, he uses a calm and polite speech.

One of his redeeming elements is that he loves his wife with complete devotion. He's even willing to risk his life for her, such as saving her from Oven, risking a chance to escape Whole Cake Island. Thanks to the Shiro Shiro no Mi Devil Fruit, he even has the power to protect his family and his crew with his own body, like a koala or a living fortress. He's also not above showing mercy, like when he was willing to look the other way when forming an alliance with Luffy, despite previous bad blood.

He can be pushed over the edge, like when Luffy gets credit for an assassination attempt to kill Big Mom, a plan that caused him to work for Big Mom for a year. Let's just say he was pretty upset over that. He's also shown to have a sadistic streak, like when he laughed at the destruction of the Whole Cake Chateau.

2 Charlotte Chiffon

You'd think that being one of Big Mom's daughters would mean that Chiffon takes after her mother, but you'd be wrong. In fact, they actually have a rather dark relationship. After Chiffon's twin sister ran away, her mother took her anger out on Chiffon, if only because she reminded her of her sister. This would eventually cause Chiffon to disown her mother.

The more audiences get to know her the more they learn that she is a selfless, devoted person, as well as a loving wife and mother. She's shown to be willing to lose her life if it means protecting her family. She doesn't particularly feel remorse when she learns about an attempt on her mother's life, which many people could sympathize with, but she is moral enough to feel conflicted about her lack of guilt. And while she should have every reason to resent Lola, she cares for her too, once even saving the Straw Hat Pirates because they once helped her sister.

That's not to say she's a pushover, however, since, as mentioned above, even Gotti is scared of her.

She's also voiced by Aya Hisakawa, the voice of Sailor Mercury in the 90's Sailor Moon anime, and that has got to be in her favor.

1 Pez

Let's just start with the obvious, Pez is just a baby, although appearances can be deceiving, and it's hard to dislike a baby. He does have his father's stubble, but there's nothing wrong with being an early bloomer. Rather confusingly, he didn't have his trademark stubble in his first appearance, but he also had a different hair color, too, eventually switching his black hair for pink, so it's probably best not to think about it. Besides, babies' hair changes all the time in real life.

Casual viewers might be a little worried about what appears to be a cigar in his mouth, but it's actually just a pacifier, so this baby is (or at least his parents are) a little more health-conscious than appearances would have you believe.

Being a baby, he seems to be a bit more innocent than the other members of the crew. For starters, he recognizes Pound as his grandfather, or at least senses that he's from his family, and eventually mourns his passing, something that confuses his own mother, Chiffon. His name also keeps the theme of having food-themed names, but it's a little unclear what it represents. On one hand, his name could mean "fish" but it could refer to the candy of the same name. At the very least, it's a nice break from the mafia names.
