One Piece: What Happened To Zoro's Eye? (& 9 Other Small Mysteries You Missed)

For a series that's been around for more than 20 years, One Piece sure has left a whole lot more questions than answers. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, though. One Piece could've only carried itself this far because of how engaging and plentiful its mysteries are. It perfectly encapsulates the adventurous feel by having the fans wondering what's behind every corner.

This is a world full of grand conspiracies, hidden worlds, and political intrigue. However, this list will be giving a special spotlight to the smaller questions. While they may not necessarily carry the fate of the world (as far as fans know now), there are a few passing details in the series that still get the fans asking questions.

10 Zoro's Eye

One of the quietest mysteries in One Piece is the entire situation with Roronoa Zoro's eye. After the time skip, he had one less of them. Fans can easily digest how Usopp became buffer and why Franky went overboard with the gadgets, but they just couldn't quite piece together Zoro's scar.

Some ongoing theories range between hiding some ocular based power like the Sharingan to just being an accidental cut when Zoro unfortunately got an itchy eye during training. Nothing has been set in stone, but it's still a little hard to believe how none of the Straw Hats asked about it yet, not even Luffy and his childlike curiosity.

9 Objects Eating Devil Fruits

No one said that they needed One Piece's science to be realistic; but at minimum, it could at least be explained. In a world full of technological snails and floating cities, there has to be some consistent logic to really tie everything together. For a while, that was the case with Devil Fruits.

They were magical fruits that, when eaten, could grant the user magical abilities. However, even that lore became muddied when the series proudly stated on multiple occasions that the World Government was having weapons eat Devil Fruits. This isn't animals or people eating Devil Fruits that give them weapons. It's weapons somehow consuming Devil Fruits to gain consciousness as animals.

8 How Big Mom Got The Soul-Soul Fruit

A lot of Big Mom's past is shrouded in mystery. Where did she come from? Why is she as big as she is? Why is she always hungry? However, if there was one mystery around her that can really haunt fans, it's how she got her Devil Fruit. The Soul-Soul Fruit had previously belonged to her foster mother, Mother Caramel.

However, after blacking out on her birthday in a hungry frenzy, Charlotte Linlin suddenly found herself alone and somehow with Mother Caramel's Devil Fruit. Nothing has been confirmed at this point, but the tease seems to be that, if one eats a Devil Fruit user, then they gain that person's Devil Fruit. This could clear up some mysteries surrounding Devil Fruits while sparking so many more nightmares.

7 The Tree On Rusukaina

Here is one of the few One Piece mysteries that has actually been answered. When Luffy goes off to train with Rayleigh, he leaves his hat on a mysterious tree on Rusukaina, one that Rayleigh simply remarks that the animals stay away from. For those who only read the manga or watch the anime, not much is explained as to what's so special about the tree.

However, its powers are actually explained in One Piece: Strong World, in which a similar tree, called "Daft Green," repels animals with poisonous spores. Oda has said that the Rusukaina tree isn't poisonous, but it is similar to the Daft Green.

6 Who Knows The Will Of D.

The Will of D. is one of the biggest ongoing mysteries within the story. Its exact purpose has yet to be revealed despite the number of people with the middle initial "D" growing everyday. And while the specifics behind the branding are too grand for now, fans can still speculate as to why a few, stray people know about it.

This special order is mainly comprised of old folks, but it includes the likes of Woop Slap, Foosha Village's mayor, Dr. Kureha, Chopper's mentor, and Crocus, Gol D. Roger's personal doctor.

5 Eneru & Aliens

This one was glossed over way too easily. For fans who missed it, there are aliens in One Piece and robots that premiered much earlier than Franky. Unveiled in a cover story for Eneru, Skypeia's ex-god managed to reach the moon and discovered an entire colony of cute robots who hid in fear of space pirates.

Eneru easily manages to save them and goes on to discover an entire ancient prophecy regarding these little things and the moon. Not much more is explained here, but this much detail and mystery could practically start a series of its own.

4 Zoro's Asura

During the Enies Lobby Arc, some of the Straw Hats got some very needed power-ups. By increasing the blood flow across his body and blowing air into his bones, Luffy increased his speed and power. By spinning around really fast to generate friction, Sanji can create a superheated kick. And by being really angry, Zoro can summon multiple heads and arms.

Oda kind of just busted this out and expected fans to take it at face value, despite the fact that growing limbs out of nothing hasn't been a common thing in One Piece. This move has also only been used once more in the series and is never addressed again.

3 Shakky's Past

Shakky managed to steal plenty of hearts during her introduction on Sabaody Archipelago. However, she may have stolen plenty more during her distant past. Way too smoothly in passing, Shakky slightly reveals that she was once chased down by Monkey D. Garp and that she has a relationship with Silvers Rayleigh.

Not only does it take quite a powerful and shady person to hang with the Dark King, but Shakky must've really been special if she was hunted down by the Pirate King's own arch-nemesis. What did you do, Shakky?

2 The Rocky Port Incident

For a character with a really well-established partnership with the Straw Hats, there is so much shadiness surrounding Trafalgar Law. Part of his induction into the Seven Warlords includes his involvement with something called "The Rock Port Incident."

Just the name doesn't sound good, but this also apparently validated Law as one of the most powerful and dangerous pirates around. This could be in reference to the time that Law collected 100 pirate hearts, but that situation sparks even more questions. What did you do, Law?

1 The Giant Egg On The Oro Jackson

Last on this list is a slight, aesthetic detail on one of the best pirate ships in One Piece. Fit for future royalty, the Oro Jackson was designed by Franky's own shipwright mentor, Tom, and has one of the most prominent and elegant designs in the series. Its red sails proudly show the insignia of their captain. Its frontside practically pierces the sea itself. Wings and mermaids grace its face.

And, last but not least, there's a giant egg in the back. For some reason, no character has really brought attention to it, but there's a giant, polka-dotted egg on the back of Roger's ship. It's not currently known if this is cargo or just a strong aesthetic choice for a ship. In either case, it makes a statement and that statement is, "What?"
