Episode 3 -- "Hidden Inventory 3" -- picked up from where the previous installment concluded. It began with Satoru Gojo, Suguru Geto and Riko Amanai setting out to save the latter's maid, Kuroi, after being kidnapped. They managed to rescue her so quickly that the episode jumped straight to the celebration, with the group enjoying some time at the beach. The Jujutsu High Students eventually returned to the school with Riko and Kuroi, preparing for Riko's assimilation with Master Tengen as the Star Plasma Vessel. However, Gojo was suddenly stabbed in the back by the villainous Toji Fushiguro before they could start.
Geto quickly took Riko and Kuroi away to complete the ritual while Gojo stayed behind to battle the "Sorcerer Killer." However, Fushiguro outmatched Gojo despite his immense power, brutalizing the fan-favorite with an array of stabs and slashes. Meanwhile, at the Tombs of the Star Corridor, Geto revealed they were willing to help Riko escape her fate. She agreed after stating that she wanted to spend more time with her new friends before getting shot in the head by the returning Fushigiro. The episode concluded with Geto unleashing his Cursed Spirit Manipulation and preparing to face him.
Jujutsu Kaisen, based on the manga by Gege Akutami, is one of the most popular modern animanga properties. The second season has been well received by viewers so far, with fans enjoying the exploration Gojo and Geto's backstory, which presents their lives before the latter became a dangerous villain. This is not new ground for the franchise as JJK has explored their relationship before in the feature-length prequel film Jujutsu Kaisen 0. However, the "Gojo's Past" arc has given audiences a deeper look into their time together as sorcerers.
The series has a prominent place in the industry thanks to its association with Chainsaw Man and Hell's Paradise. These properties have been linked as the Shonen Dark Trio, thanks to their use of Shonen tropes combined with violence and horror. Each manga has received an acclaimed adaptation from Studio MAPPA, with Chainsaw Man slated for Season 2 and Hell's Paradise also expected to return soon.
