Vaundy has released an official music video for the song "Todome no Ichigeki," which is the current ending theme of Spy x Family Season 2. The video notably features an Easter egg for fans of the anime's source material.
Vaundy's music video was released on YouTube. The Spy x Family Easter egg it contains is the main protagonist sitting in a La Chaise chair, very similar to the one Yor Forger sits atop on Spy x Family Volume 3's cover. The chair in the video reportedly cost $15,000.
Vaundy collaborated on the "Todome no Ichigeki" music video with American songwriter and guitarist Cory Wong. Yuichi Kodama directed the video and has worked with various musical talent, including Ed Sheeran, Fujii Kaze, Hikaru Utada, Perfume, Tokyo Jihen and Radwimps. The song is not Vaundy's only title associated with a popular anime; his second studio album Replica, which debuts in November, will feature the track "Naked Hero," a theme in Ranking of Kings. Another song on the same album, "Chainsaw Blood," is the theme of Chainsaw Man's first episode.
Vaundy began his music career as an independent artist four years ago. He released his songs primarily on YouTube, with his debut album Strobo premiering in May 2020. The album featured his breakout song "Tokyo Flash." Vaundy worked with Ado on the track "Backlight," one of the soundtracks for the One Piece Film: Red film.
Spy x Family Season 2 Opening Garnered Millions of Views in Just a Few Days
The Spy x Family Season 2 opening, which plays to the theme "Kura Kura," gained over two million views on YouTube just a few days after it was up on the platform. Ado renders the song, and Masaaki Yuasa directs. Ado and Yuasa are renowned for their work and are well-known in Japan's music scene. The phenomenal number of views is indicative of Spy x Family's huge fandom and the eager anticipation fans have for the second anime season.
Spy x Family's second season opening features the three main characters, Loid, Yor and Anya, and their tendency to get into wild adventures while trying to maintain the semblance of being a regular family.
