The 10 Most Expensive Dragon Ball Super Cards, Ranked

Bandai first launched the Dragon Ball Super Card Game back in 2017. Though it has struggled to keep up with the likes of Pokémon or Magic: The Gathering, the Dragon Ball Super Card Game has survived throughout the years and carved out its own little niche in the TCG world.

As with other TCGs, some cards in the Dragon Ball Super Card Game are rarer than others, going from Common and Uncommon all the way up to Super Rare, Secret Rare, and even God Rare. Some of those particularly rare cards can quickly become rather expensive, further contributing to their rarity. This makes several of the most valuable Dragon Ball Super cards especially difficult to acquire.

Updated on October 10, 2023, by Michael Colwander: The Dragon Ball Super Card Game is about to usher in a new era with two different formats to play. Thankfully, the current Masters format will continue on making these rare cards still sought after. More cards were added as well as their market price, according toTCGPlayer.com.

10 Son Goku, Hope of Universe 7 (Special Rare)

Market Price: $508.74

The 10 Most Expensive Dragon Ball Super Cards, Ranked

Son Goku, Hope of Universe 7 comes from the Tournament of Power set of May 2018. This card has a strong 35,000 Power attached to it, which may seem weaker than the other rare cards, but its Triple Attack ability more than makes up for the difference in sheer numbers. Though Son Goku, Hope of Universe 7 is technically only a Special Rare, its power and usefulness in gameplay and the cool, understated art design have made this card a fan favorite.

Bandai even brought back Signature Rares for the Assault of the Saiyans set with those cards being valuable in their own right. Those who do get their hands on a Son Goku, Hope of Universe 7 Card typically don't want to part with it, making the card reach the same levels of rarity as the Secret Rare cards or even the God Rare cards. The card typically sells for around $500 these days, but it's previously sold for as high as $4,999.77.

9 Bardock, Origin of the Legend (God Rare)

Market Price: $575.00

The 10 Most Expensive Dragon Ball Super Cards, Ranked

Bardock, Origin of the Legend is the second God Rare card ever produced. Surprisingly, it doesn't feature an extremely popular character like Goku or Vegeta. Instead, this card focuses on Goku's father, Bardock. Bardock himself has only appeared in Dragon Ball media a handful of times, but he's become a strong fan favorite, which makes any card that he's in a hit. More than that, though, Origin of the Legend is a good, solid card all around.

Bardock, Origin of the Legend reaches 40,000 Power. It's a great card for players who love deep strategies, since its ability to influence the opponent's cards in Rest Mode could turn the tide of an entire game in one turn if used effectively. A mint condition copy of Bardock, Origin of the Legend can run around $1,800.

8 SSB Kaio-Ken Son Goku, United Divinity (Serial Numbered)

Market Price: $650.00

The 10 Most Expensive Dragon Ball Super Cards, Ranked

Serial-numbered cards are still new territory for trading and collectible card games. Serial numbered cards have been immensely popular in the sports card market, but only recently has it begun to integrate itself into other card markets, culminating in The One Ring from Magic's Tales from Middle-earth set.

SSB Kaio-Ken Son Goku, United Divinity is one of the few serial-numbered cards in the Dragon Ball Super Card Game and was only available as a tournament promo card. An alternate art version of the Secret Rare from Dawn of the Z-Legends, each of these serial-numbered cards is individually numbered up to 600. This makes SSB Kaio-Ken Son Goku, United Divinity one of the rarest cards in the Dragon Ball Super Card Game. United Divinity was designed to be the pseudo-set one Secret Rare since that set didn't have one. It's still a powerful card, especially for mono-Blue strategies.

7 Son Goku & Vegeta, Apex of Power

Market Price: $700.96

The 10 Most Expensive Dragon Ball Super Cards, Ranked

Son Goku & Vegeta, Apex of Power could be viewed as a successor to Son Goku, The Awakened Power, since it has the same staggering 45,000 and one hit win Victory Strike ability. It also fits perfectly in a Universe 7 strategy, particularly Red/Blue ones. The cool art depicting the two most popular characters in all of Dragon Ball working side by side, despite their complicated friendship and rivalry, makes it a standout card for some collectors.

Even though Son Goku & Vegeta, Apex of Power is a Secret Rare card and not a God Rare, its age and popularity mean that it might as well be even above God Rare. Apex of Power released in Universal Onslaught set way back in February 2020, so this card has been out of circulation for quite a while.

6 Son Goku, The Awakened Power

Market Price: $766.28

The 10 Most Expensive Dragon Ball Super Cards, Ranked

Son Goku, The Awakened Power, found in the Tournament of Power set, is rare for the same reasons as Hope of Universe 7: its popularity and being in a set that was low-printed. The Awakened Power was the original must-have collector's item for Dragon Ball Super Card Game. Showing Goku in his Ultra Instinct Form, The Awakened Power has an incredible 45,000 Power, as well as two amazing abilities.

For one, the Permanent ability means its attack and skill can't be negated, while the Victory Strike ability means the entire game is automatically won if this card deals life damage to the opponent. That makes Son Goku, The Awakened Power one of the most powerful cards in the entire game, and one of the most sought-after. On the other hand, a mint condition version of this card typically goes for over $2,000, so players might not even want this card in their decks at all.

5 Android 21, Transcendental Predator (Alternate Art)

Market Price: $797.00

The 10 Most Expensive Dragon Ball Super Cards, Ranked

To say Android 21 is popular is an understatement. The Dragon Ball FighterZ character has slowly integrated herself with the greater Dragon Ball universe with her design, and origin as the wife of Dr. Gero, becoming canon as of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.

The original Android 21, Transcendental Predator, which was a Secret Rare in the Power Absorbed set, isn't too expensive. It has a current market price of $77.96. However, its alternate art goes for about ten times more than that. Transcendental Predator, as well as other sought-after Secret Rare alternate arts, were found in the Power Absorbed Collector's Booster. Android 21 has been a fan-favorite deck and Transcendental Predator is a must-have for that strategy.

4 Son Goku, Peace Resolution (God Rare)

Market Price: $1.158.33

The 10 Most Expensive Dragon Ball Super Cards, Ranked

Son Goku, Peace Resolution is the most recent God Rare appearing in the Wild Resurgence set. It depicts the iconic art of Goku waving goodbye to his friends, complete with a halo and angel wings.

Peace Resolution is designed for a Teen Gohan-based Green deck as it can boost a Son Gohan: Childhood leader by +20,000 power. It also has benefits for Green leader cards of Saiyans, Earthlings, and Namekians by granting that leader Triple Strike when used in a combo. Much like Gohan vs. Cell in the anime, that could prove to be the decisive blow.

3 SSB Vegeta, Unbridled Power (God Rare)

Market Price: $1,347.50

The 10 Most Expensive Dragon Ball Super Cards, Ranked

The SSB Vegeta, Unbridled Power card comes from the Realm of the Gods set, which launched in March 2022. It's the rarest card found in that particular Booster and is notable for being the first God Rare card in the game. Unbridled Power is a fitting name for the card, as it has an incredible 40,000 Power behind it. When played from the player's hand, it can make one of the opponent's Leader cards immediately drop by 5,000 Power.

SSB Vegeta, Unbridled Power is a powerful card, to be sure. It remains worthy of the name and image of one of the strongest fighters from all of Dragon Ball lore in one of his most powerful forms. However, the high power and the God Rare classification make this card one of the most sought-after. A mint condition copy of SSB Vegeta, Unbridled Power can sell for over $3,100.

2 5th Anniversary: Silver SS Son Goku & Frieza, Miraculous Conclusion

Market Price: $1,700.00

The 10 Most Expensive Dragon Ball Super Cards, Ranked

It was only a matter of time before the memorable conclusion to the Tournament of Power was memorialized as a Secret Rare in the Cross Spirits set. SS Son Goku & Frieza Miraculous Conclusion depicts Goku and Frieza working together in hopes of defeating Jiren once and for all. Miraculous Conclusion is important for any mono-Red strategy, such as Red Universe 7 Gohan.

The 5th Anniversary Silver version is one unlikely to be inserted in a deck. It's limited to 555 cards, each serial numbered, and made with pure silver. The cards were only available for a limited time and required a Premium Bandai Membership for a chance to purchase one. Each of these Silver versions was shipped in a screw-down acrylic case, perfect for displaying. Thankfully, the original Secret Rare version is much more affordable, though still pricey at roughly $175.04.

1 SS3 Goku, Universe At Stake (Hologram)

Market Price: $1,999.95

The 10 Most Expensive Dragon Ball Super Cards, Ranked

Most trading card games find inspiration from one another. Dragon Ball Super Card Game finds much of its inspiration from Magic's gameplay. However, for SS3 Goku, Universe at Stake (Hologram), Bandai drew inspiration from Yu-Gi-Oh! This version of Universe at Stake is designed like a Ghost Rare in Yu-Gi-Oh!, a popular rarity in that game.

The original Universe at Stake is a rather cheap Super and Special Rare from Power Absorbed, but the Hologram version is the top chase card of the Collector's Booster set that accompanied Power Absorbed. SS3 Goku, Universe at Stake (Hologram) is currently the most expensive card in the Dragon Ball Super Card Game. Any card collector and Dragon Ball fan will want this in their collection.
