Crunchyroll to Release Spy x Family Code: White in U.S. Theaters and Worldwide

Spy x Family Code: White will arrive in North American theaters next year.

As detailed in a recent press release, prominent anime streaming company Crunchyroll has acquired the distribution rights to Spy x Family's first animated feature. In collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment, the company plans to release Code White for viewers in the United States, Canada, Latin America, Austrailia/New Zealand and select European territories. Upon release, moviegoers will have the option to watch the film in Japanese (with English subtitles) or in English dubbed. Recently, Toho Animation showcased Code White's final trailer to the series' eager fan base.

Tatsuya Endo's hit Spy x Family manga revolves around the world's most unusual found family; a secret agent, an assassin and a telepathic young girl. While living undercover as a small-town psychologist, Loid Forger (aka Agent Twilight) secretly completes missions to preserve the safety of his home country, Westalis. Unbeknownst to him, his wife Yor moonlights as the deadly Thorn Princess. His psychic daughter Anya also knows about his spy work and tries to help him whenever she can. CloverWorks and Wit Studios' popular series adaptation debuted in April 2022 and made an indelible impression on the anime world, topping popularity charts in Japan and beyond. While Spy x Family is currently in the middle of its second season, Code White features an original standalone story written by Ichiro Okouchi (Code Geass, Lelouch of the Rebellion).

The film's story begins with a new development for Operation Strix, Agent Twilight's plan to avert civil war by infiltrating an elite school called Eden Academy and influencing Ostania's Prime Minister, Donovan Desmond. To help Anya climb up Eden's ranks, he decides to help her win its annual cooking competition by tracking down the headmaster's favorite recipe. In the process, Anya unknowingly triggers a series of events that pose a grave threat to world peace. Takashi Katagiri, who serves as an assistant director for the television series, is sitting in the director's seat for Code White.

Since its debut, Spy x Family has received near universal acclaim from fans and critics alike for its comedic yet poignant storyline and lovable characters. In addition to earning nominations for both Harvey and Eisner Awards, the manga earned a spot on New York Times' bestseller list for Graphic Novels and Manga. Spy x Family Season 2 premiered last month and is currently covering the "Cruise Adventure" arc, one of the series' most popular storylines.

The Spy x Family anime adaptation is available to stream on Crunchyroll and Hulu. The original manga is available in English from VIZ Media.
