Dragon Ball Daima Episode Count & Release Window Revealed

Dragon Ball Daima's release date and episode count were revealed by Toei Animation's localization director on Oct. 26.

In an interview with the Spanish media outlet Produ, Daniel Castañeda revealed that the Dragon Ball Daima release date window is October 2024. While this isn't a formal announcement, Castañeda is a verified Toei official, serving as localization director for the English and Spanish dubbed versions of The First Slam Dunk, as well as the Portuguese version of Dragon Ball Z, One Piece Film Gold and Samurai Champloo according to credits from ANN. In his revelation, Castañeda discussed the typical dubbing process for anime before revealing that dubbed versions of Dragon Ball Daima will premiere simultaneously worldwide. Produ also claims that the series will have 20 episodes.

"Usually all of our productions first premiere in Japan and then around six months later we release them internationally," Castañeda says, "because we wait to have 26 episodes to start dubbing and everything else; and then we can premiere them in other territories. This is the first time we are going to launch a series worldwide at the same time. The production is already underway and I estimate we will have it completed around May of next year. We are starting dubbing to release across the world in October 2024. For public television, the most likely is that we will premiere it in January 2025."

Dragon Ball Daima was officially announced at New York Comic Con on Oct 13, 2023, alongside the official trailer. It was previously reported that Daima would be released in released in Fall 2024 as an ONA (original net animation) web series for Dragon Ball's 40th anniversary. Castañeda's comments provide more clarity on the release window as well as the fact that Dragon Ball Daima will have a future TV release in January 2025. Dragon Ball Daima was revealed to be canon, unlike Dragon Ball GT, which similarly saw the main cast turned to children but is not considered part of Dragon Ball's continuity.

The creator of the Dragon Ball manga, Akira Toriyama, provided some insight into what fans could expect from Dragon Ball Daima, revealing, "Since Goku has to make up for his petite size, he uses his Power Pole to fight, something not seen in a long time. I came up with the story and settings as well as a lot of the designs. I'm actually putting a lot more into this than usual. Things will unfold that close in on the mysteries of the Dragon Ball World. Hope you all enjoy these different-from-usual battles that are cute and powerful."

The official synopsis of Dragon Ball Daima reads: "Due to a conspiracy, Goku and his friends are turned small. In order to fix things, they'll head off to a new world! It's a grand adventure with intense action in an unknown and mysterious world."
