A blooper reel for One Piece shows a fun side of the production that fans normally wouldn't get the chance to see.
Released on Netflix in August, the live-action One Piece adaptation was a big hit for the streaming platform, garnering high viewership and strong reviews. That led to production quickly getting underway for a second season, with an official renewal coming just two weeks after the show's premiere. As Season 2 is early into development, Netflix highlighted the show at its Geeked Week celebration with the Season 2 blooper reel to help hold fans over. The blooper reel can be viewed below.
"Without saying too much, and speaking to any new characters that we might meet, I would say a major theme that we’re working with in Season 2 is the challenge of leadership," showrunner Matt Owens previously teased about the direction of Season 2, per Deadline. "From Luffy’s perspective, he’s got his crew now, and they are setting out to the Grand Line. They’re doing the thing, and there are a lot of challenges that come with that responsibility. And that theme ties into some other stories and characters that I won’t give away just yet. But the challenge and leadership is a big theme for us in Season 2."
Casting for Season 2 of One Piece Can Begin With the SAG-AFTRA Strike Over
New characters introduced in Season 2 weren't able to be cast due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, but now that can get underway with the strike over. Both the One Piece team and Jamie Lee Curtis have expressed interest in having the Oscar winner play Dr. Kureha in Season 2, so that seems to be a likely casting, should there not be any scheduling conflicts or other potential issues. In any case, the first season's cast has drawn some very high praise, so fans may feel that the casting is in good hands with the other characters yet to come in Season 2.
Based on Eiichiro Oda's manga of the same name, One Piece was developed for Netflix by Owens and Steven Maeda. It stars Iñaki Godoy, Emily Rudd, Makenyu, Jacob Romero Gibson, Taz Skylar, Vincent Regan, Jeff Ward, And Morgan Davies.
The first season of One Piece can be streamed on Netflix, while Season 2 doesn't yet have a premiere date.
