10 Funniest Spy x Family Moments, Ranked

Spy x Family has emerged as one of the best anime in recent years. The quirky misadventures of the Forger family have cracked the audience to roll over in laughter every time Loid, Anya, and Yor are at it. The fans expected Spy x Family to be hilarious to an extent because when a spy, a telepath, and an assassin come under one roof, nothing sane can come out of it. Despite the anime covering several themes, from action to mystery, comedy is its defining element that has impressively accommodated the wholesome family vibe as well.

However, when it comes to funny moments in Spy x Family, it’s difficult to list only a few because every episode is overflowing with eye-watering comedy. Whether it’s Anya Forger’s mess-ups to help Loid in his mission to Yor trying to balance her double life as a killer and a wife, the Forger family can’t simply have a serious moment even if they tried. With the second season just wrapping up, there are more than enough funny moments that fans can enjoy.

10 Yor and Fiona’s Thrilling Tennis Match

Season 1, Episode 23 (The Unwavering Path)

Although their relationship is only on paper, Yor is always determined to keep her “family” intact, no matter the challenges. So, when Fiona Frost, Loid’s former partner, arrives to challenge Yor to a tennis match for Loid’s heart, the Thorn Princess takes her up for a tennis “duel.” Instead of being a normal face-off against two amateur players, the tennis match becomes an intense, hysterical, high-stakes battle between the two women.

To top things off, Anya’s hilarious commentary on reading Yor and Fiona's thoughts multiplies the comedy in that particular scene. Anya’s expressions and the women's determination make it one of the funniest scenes in the anime. Fortunately, with Yor's win came Anya’s relief, who thought that Fiona might steal her father and throw her out of the picture.

9 The Forger Family Impresses Henry Henderson

Season 1, Episode 4 (The Prestigious School’s Interview)

10 Funniest Spy x Family Moments, Ranked

Getting Anya into the Eden Academy is one of Loid’s fallback plans for getting close to the Desmond family. She either wins enough Stellas to get invited to Donovan Desmond’s inner circle or forms a deep friendship with his younger son. In order to achieve both of those goals, Anya must be permitted to the prestigious institute, which has a notorious screening process. Since Loid is an undercover agent with a reputation, even his backup plans have a backup plan, and with that, the Forger family passes every obstacle set by one of the Academy’s teachers, Henry Henderson.

Henderson is a staunch supporter of elegance and mannerism, which he found in the Forger family as they save a child stuck in the gutter and the crowd from angry bulls. These tests were set up to discredit the oncoming families, but the Forgers surprised the professor as they were prepared to the point where it frightened Henderson. The entire episode is one big laughter pack, especially the famous Forger family clothing change sequence.

8 Drunken Yor vs. Loid

Season 1, Episode 5 (Will They Pass or Fail?)

10 Funniest Spy x Family Moments, Ranked

Getting Anya into Eden Academy was such an impossible task in Loid’s eyes that he was ready to make all interventions to make it work. Surprisingly, when Anya is admitted into the school, Loid is forced to comply with Anya's wishes as a way of rewarding her for her hard work. Instead of asking for a pony or her favorite toy like a normal kid, Anya demands her spy father reenact an episode from her favorite show, Spy Wars. Almost everyone takes part in this hilarious sequence where Loid has to act the part of his real self and pretend to save Anya from being kidnapped.

If that wasn’t funny enough, a drunken Yor elevates the comic level of the moment further. As the final enemy, she appears in front of Loid under the impression that Anya is being “kidnapped” and unleashes her assassin-style ninja tricks on Loid, which even surprises him. But thanks to a broken heel, Yor’s disguise remains hidden, and the Forger family has a fun day playing the roles of who they really are.

7 Loid Trying to Be the Perfect Father

Season 2, Episode 7 (Who Is This Mission For)

10 Funniest Spy x Family Moments, Ranked

If there’s one thing Loid Forger is dead serious about, it’s his commitment to the mission. During their highly anticipated cruise trip, Loid is forced to acknowledge that he must convincingly play the part of a father enough to really cater to Anya’s feelings. It’s almost enlightening and comical at the same time to see Loid try his best to be a good father figure, thinking Anya might get hurt because of his indifference.

The way Loid takes even the smallest actions as a mission is funny in itself, especially when it's playing the role of a husband or a father. However, being Anya’s father isn’t easy, since she’s always asking Loid to do things that he wouldn’t be caught dead doing. Making Anya happy in his “spy-way” is always a treat to watch and makes for the best Loid moments in Spy x Family.

6 Anya’s Epic Introduction to Damian Desmond

Season 1, Episode 6 (The Friendship Scheme)

10 Funniest Spy x Family Moments, Ranked

A world-class spy depending on a little girl to help him evade a powerful politician’s house is hilarious as it is. However, when Anya puts her separate efforts into aiding her parents in their respective “missions,” it becomes a dumpster fire of misadventures and “rolling in laughter” moments. But one of the most iconic Anya moments in the anime is definitely her introduction to Damian Desmond. Determined to help Loid in Operation Strix, Anya decides to do her best to befriend Damian.

However, instead of coming off as friendly, she rolls into the “creepy” and “stalker” category, which throws the Second Son off balance. Annoyed by her weird expressions, Damian calls Anya dumb and claims to bully her and Becky. Remembering how Yor taught her to stand out for her friends in need, Anya lands a cracking punch on Damian’s face and sends him flying. So much for Loid’s plans to make Anya an Imperial Scholar.

5 Loid Prepares an Epic Marriage Proposal

Season 1, Episode 2 (Secure a Wife)

Loid Forger needed to have the perfect cover to keep an eye on Donovan Desmond for Operation Strix, and for that, he was supposed to look like an average family man. After adopting Anya for the operation, Loid needed to “secure” the perfect wife who would go along with his persona. Loid met Yor at the tailor shop and figured she would be a promising candidate for his wife’s role. The entire episode leading up to the moment of Loid’s outlandish yet epic marriage proposal is a comedy ride.

In its classic spy-thriller style, the anime constructed the perfect way for an undercover spy and an assassin to come together in holy matrimony. During their escape from criminals from his previous assignment, Yor asks Loid to marry her and solidify their prior arrangement. Thinking it’s now or never, Loid takes the pin out of a hand grenade and agrees to be with Yor in sickness and in health with a backdrop of people blowing up.

4 Every Time Damian is Smitten With Anya

Season 2, Episode 29 (The Pastry of Knowledge/The Informant’s Great Romance Plant II)

10 Funniest Spy x Family Moments, Ranked

Damian Desmond may show everyone that he despises Anya, but in truth, he’s completely smitten with her. Whenever she’s in his face or does anything cute, he can’t help but have his face turn red and feel anxious around her. Although Damian has felt nervous around Anya several times, one of the best scenes of him being taken over by his feelings was during a game of cards. There’s a rumor around Eden Academy that when students eat a dessert made by a famous royal pastry chef, they become Imperial Scholars.

Determined to improve her academic status, Anya battles Damian to win the last macaroon in a game of Old Maid. However, Anya resorts to losing when she fears that others will figure out she can read minds. It’s downright cute and funny to see Damian doing everything to make Anya happy, all the while trying to stay in denial of his feelings for her.

3 Anya’s Eventful Dodgeball Game

Season 1, Episode 10 (The Great Dodgeball Plan)

10 Funniest Spy x Family Moments, Ranked

Anya Forger may not be the smartest kid, but she will do everything to win a Stella to help Loid. With rumors circulating in school that the star player of a dodgeball game will win a star, Anya resorts to asking Yor to train her. The eventful day arrives, and it’s a basket full of laughter seeing Anya’s game turn into an episode of Haikyuu! It becomes a do-or-die situation for the elementary kids, especially with a giant-sized kid named Bill on the opposing team.

With only Anya and Damian left as the last players standing, there’s only one way for the former to win the title, and it throws Anya under the bus. Hilariously, Damian again loses the war with his feelings, and instead of winning, he shields Anya from a super ball attack from Billy. As the last survivor, it’s up to Anya to win the game, but Anya, being Anya, manages to outwit everyone with her funny failures.

2 Yor Gets Shot in the Butt

Season 2, Episode 1 (Follow Mama and Papa)

10 Funniest Spy x Family Moments, Ranked

Taking out a crime gang on a daily basis is a piece of cake for Yor, but even the Thorn Princess is not immune to a few on-the-scene hiccups. While taking out a Red Circus group, Yor gets shot in the butt by a gangster, which puts her in a considerable amount of pain. Returning home, Yor is in a grumpy mood because she can’t disclose to her family why her butt is aching. However, Loid goes completely off with this predicament and thinks that Yor is in a bad mood because he’s not paying attention to her as a husband.

To keep the family from falling apart, Loid plans a date with Yor, but nothing goes his way. The pretty assassin is unable to enjoy any of the activities because of her aching behind, which is an extremely comedic affair. The audience might not be able to hold back their laughter seeing the awkwardness between the couple as they try to make the date work for personal reasons. If the disaster date wasn’t enough, Anya’s “tailing” of her fake parents adds an extra layer of quality humor.

1 Yor and Loid Try to Kiss

Season 1, Episode 8 (The Counter-Secret Police Cover Operation)

Loid Forger, aka Twilight, is tasked with a critical mission, which means it’s his top priority to make the Forger family “work.” He can go to any lengths to keep up the pretenses, including being romantically involved with his fake wife, Yor. When Yor’s brother Yuri drops in for a visit, the couple is forced to act the part to convince her brother of their marriage. Being an officer in the State Security Service, Yuri immediately finds Yor and Loid’s awkwardness suspicious and demands them to prove their marital status.

The whole scene is downright comedy gold as Yor’s overprotective brother is torn between not wanting to share his sister and hoping that Loid is not taking advantage of Yor. Pushed to the brink of no choice, Loid takes the lead and leans in to kiss Yor. However, the traditional clash of the husband and the brother-in-law wrapped up in the classic Spy x Family way is simply hysterical.
