Chainsaw Man Creator's Look Back Anime Drops First Full Trailer

Chainsaw Man creator Tatsuki Fujimoto's upcoming Look Back anime movie has released its full trailer and main visual ahead of its release date of June 28, 2024.

The Avex Pictures YouTube channel released the full trailer for the upcoming Look Back movie, directed by Kiyotaka Oshiyama (also responsible for the screenplay, character design and most of the film's animation). The trailer, trailer thumbnail and main visual can all be seen below.

Featured in the trailer are Mizuki Yoshida as Kyomoto and Yumi Kawai as Ayumu Fujino, who will both be making their debuts as anime voice actors. Music director Haruka Nakamura's "Light Song" can be heard in the background, as performed by Urara. Joining director Oshiyama and Nakamura are the Look Back staff Kiyoshi Samejima (art director), Yoshio Harisaki and Takashi Omori (assistant art directors), Maya Kusumoto (color design), Kazuto Izumita (director of photography), Kiyoshi Hirose (editor) and Eriko Kimura (sound director), with Studio Durian animating Look Back and Avex Pictures responsible for distribution.

Chainsaw Man's Tatsuki Fujimoto Calls Look Back Director a "Monstrous Animator"

While Chainsaw Man's Fujimoto is typically quick to share his favorite things, recently recommending a manga by Tsutomu Nihei, he didn't hold back at all on his excitement for Oshiyama's direction. "Director Kiyotaka Oshiyama, a monstrous animator known to every anime enthusiast, is helming this adaptation," he said for the Look Back announcement. "As an anime fan myself, I’m eagerly looking forward to seeing this work come to life." Chainsaw Man will itself also be receiving a theatrical film, with the first Reze arc film trailer suggesting a slightly different art style to Season 1.

VIZ has licensed the Look Back manga for North America and describes it: "The overly confident Fujino and the shut-in Kyomoto couldn’t be more different, but a love of drawing manga brings these two small-town girls together. A poignant story of growing up and moving forward that only Tatsuki Fujimoto, the creator of Chainsaw Man, could have crafted."
