Sailor Moon Transforms Magical Sailor Scout Items Into Keychain and Necklace Collection

Recently, the official Sailor Moon store announced that it would soon be returning to Tokyo's famous Harajuku region. Soon, fans of the iconic shojo franchise will be able to get their hands on a series of store-original keychains and necklaces inspired by magical items from the Sailor Moon universe.

As detailed on the official Sailor Moon website, the collection features necklaces and bag charms based on the famous "Disguise Pen" and the "Cutie Moon Rod," both of which are part of Sailor Moon's magical arsenal. There is also a necklace-only version of the "Moon Stick," the powerful wand originally wielded by Queen Serenity. These items are being released to commemorate the Sailor Moon Store's 2024 reopening, which will take place on April 18. Additionally, the items will become available to purchase on Sailor Moon Store's official website starting April 25, with a special pre-sale period opening for "Pretty Guardian" fan club members on April 22.

Sailor Moon's Magical Items Are Just as Iconic as the Characters' Transformations & Powers

In the world of Sailor Moon, magical devices play almost as important a role as the Sailor Scouts' own crime-fighting abilities. Using the "Disguise Pen," Usagi Tsukino can transform herself into anyone she wishes. Additionally, the pen also grants her knowledge of the person she is turning into. This invaluable device gives Usagi the upper hand in a myriad of situations throughout the series. Unlike the pen, the "Cutie Moon Rod," is used only during fights and allows the Sailor Scouts to perform a powerful move known as "Moon Princess Halation." Similarly, Sailor Moon uses the "Moon Stick" wand to heal those who are negatively affected by Queen Beryl's dark magic. Sailor Moon fans can purchase the "Disguise Pen" and "Cutie Rod" keychain charms for 1,980 yen (roughly US$13) each. The necklaces cost 1,870 yen (roughly US$12) each.

Surprisingly, Sailor Moon Store's Harajuku location is the only permanent physical storefront dedicated to Naoko Takeuchi's beloved shojo franchise. Established in 2017, the shop sells hundreds of pieces of merchandise, including handbags, tote bags, clothing, plushies, figurines, DVDs and stationery products. The store recently went through an extensive renovation, updating its interior with a vibrant new decor and an expansive line of new in-store merchandise. It also revealed its brand-new logo -- a multicolored silhouette of Usagi Tsukino sitting inside a large crescent moon.

Sailor Moon Crystal is available to stream on Netflix, Hulu and Crunchyroll. Toei Animation's original Sailor Moon anime is available via Hulu and Prime Video. Naoko Takeuchi's Sailor Moon manga is available in English from Kodansha US.
