10 Dragon Ball Rematches That Need to Happen in Daima

Daima might just be the great equalizer the Dragon Ball franchise truly needs. While much about the intricate details of Daima's story are unknown, from what can be surmised based on the information released, Daima seems to be leveling the playing field between the Z Fighters once again. With Goku being a kid again and putting the Power Pole to use, his powers may have been reverted to a state that puts him on par with some of the other popular heroes who have fallen out of favor in Super. That would make Daima the perfect time to revisit some classic fights that just wouldn't have made sense due to the disparity between the saiyans and the human characters.

Even though Goku, Vegeta and Gohan have become way more powerful than most of the other Z Fighters that aren't saiyans, that doesn't mean the others have completely fallen off with their training. Dragon Ball Super's Moro arc showed that characters like Yamcha, Krillin and Roshi still have the skill to go up against powerful enemies. Not only that, but Goku and Vegeta being weakened once again means that even the most powerful fighters will need to rely on their pure skill and combat IQ in fights, bringing the series back to its roots.

10 Goku and Piccolo Could Make History Once Again in Daima

Piccolo’s fights with Goku as King Piccolo and Piccolo Jr at the end of Dragon Ball are some of the best in the entire franchise. Goku's fight against Piccolo Jr is particularly well-loved by fans, in large part due to how evenly matched the two fighters were. It’s easily the greatest fight in any Dragon Ball World Tournament, but it’s a match up that just wouldn't work the same given their current power levels in Super.

Even with Orange Piccolo's new power-up, it's highly unlikely Piccolo would stand a chance against UI Goku. That may not be the case in Daima, though. If both Goku and Piccolo lost access to their strongest forms, that could put them back on equal footing again, making a rematch between them just as epic as it was during the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai in Dragon Ball.

9 Goku and Vegeta Have Grown Considerably Since Their First Fight

Goku's fight with Vegeta is one of anime’s most iconic. In terms of animation and fight choreography, it’s also arguably the DBZ anime's best. At that point in the series, Goku was a martial arts world champion who had trained with King Kai in the Other World, giving him access to the Kaioken ability. Even with all that strength, though, Goku ended up left in a near-death state after Vegeta transformed into an Oozaru.

Throughout DBZ and Super, Goku and Vegeta remained neck-and-neck in terms of power, and that’s included with their latest Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego forms. With them being sparring partners and constantly growing alongside each other, Goku and Vegeta are as equal as martial artists as two fighters can be. With them becoming children and losing much of their power in Daima, a fight of pure combat prowess between Dragon Ball's two most famous saiyans would be truly epic.

8 Gohan Has Finally Reached the Potential Vegeta Always Knew He Had

It's been quite a while since Gohan and Vegeta actually fought. While the two did spar at the end of the Super Hero Saga in Dragon Ball Super, not much of their individual fight was shown in the manga. The last time the two had a serious fight was when Gohan was a child during the Saiyan Saga. At that time, Gohan had only just started learning how to control his power, so it was not even close to a fair fight.

If Gohan and Vegeta fought in Daima, the fight would go far differently. Gohan always had incredible potential, even as a child, so he may actually have the upper hand over Vegeta if they were both turned into kids. Vegeta has a profound respect for Gohan's potential as a warrior, and it's only been in recent years that he has been willing to outwardly admit it.

7 Tien Could Give Yamcha Another Beating in Daima

Yamcha and Tien may have fallen out of favor half-way through DBZ, but during early Dragon Ball, they were two of the strongest fighters in the series. During the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai tournament, Yamcha and Tien faced off for the first time in a particularly brutal fight. Yamcha put up an admirable showing against Tien, but the three-eyed monk was simply too skilled, and his training with the Crane School taught him to show no mercy.

Tien and Yamcha have become comrades and so it's highly unlikely a rematch between them would ever get as bloody as the first fight was. Nevertheless, having Yamcha and Tien on equal footing with the rest of the Z Fighters in Daima could set the stage for a classic rematch between them. While Yamcha fell out of his training routine during most of Dragon Ball Super, he finally started working out again prior to the Moro arc, though it's still uncertain where Daima takes place on the Dragon Ball timeline as yet.

6 Master Roshi Could Still Teach His Star Pupil a Lesson

Goku surpassed Master Roshi in terms of raw power when he was still only a child, but he still has had lessons to learned from Roshi, even as recently as the Tournament of Power. During the Universe Survival Saga in the manga, Master Roshi was able to dodge punches from Jiren before even Goku could, showing his student the principals of UI, even though Roshi had no knowledge of the technique of the Angels himself.

If Goku's strength is to become comparatively to Roshi again in Daima, a rematch between the two martial arts masters would be interesting to see. Roshi's pure experience and skill may allow him to defeat Goku just as he did when Goku was still his student during the 21st World Tournament. However, Goku has also gained an immense amount of experience over the years, so he may even have a thing or two to teach his old master as well.

5 Krillin and Piccolo Would Be the Perfect Match-up in Daima

Krillin's fight against Piccolo Jr in the Tenkaichi Budokai was one of Krilin's best showings in any fight in the series. It was a match that everyone expected him to lose from the outset, but he showed how his pure combat IQ and cleverness can keep Krillin in almost any battle.

If the two fought in Dragon Ball Super, Orange Piccolo's new power would leave Krillin completely outmatched. However, with Piccolo likely losing a substantial amount of power due to the curse put on him and the rest of the Z Fighters in Daima, he and Krillin may actually be more evenly matched again. Piccolo is one of the few fighters in Dragon Ball whose craftiness in battle could match Krillin's own, so they would definitely make for a great fight if the two met on the battlefield.

4 Tien's Fight With Goku in Daima Would Be Just as Important as the First One

Goku first fought Tien in the final round of the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai. At that time, they were students of opposing schools: Tien being a member of the Crane School under Master Shen, and Goku learning martial arts as part of the Turtle School under Master Roshi. Unlike the Turtle School, which focused on hard work and using one's strength to master oneself, Tien's training with the Crane School taught him to be a merciless assassin who uses any tactic imaginable to incapacitate his opponents. That made Goku and Tien's fight an ideological battle just as much as a physical one, and it would actually go quite similarly if they fought in Daima.

Tien has become a master of his own in Dragon Ball Super, while Goku has continued to train and study under the Angels and GODs on Beerus' planet. That would make the rematch between Tien and Goku one of a fighter who remained a student all his life, and one who graduated to become a Master who accepted students of his own. Which path is the right one could only be decided in a fair fight, and with Daima evening out the playing field, that could finally be possible again for Tien and Goku.

3 Krillin and Goku Could Become Rivals Again in Daima

10 Dragon Ball Rematches That Need to Happen in Daima

Krillin’s fight with Goku during the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai was one of the highlights of Dragon Ball. The two fighters trained hard under Master Roshi, gaining incredible raw strength through their training with his signature turtle shell on their backs. By the time the two fought in the tournament, they put on a show the audience would never forget.

Part of what has always made Krillin a fun fighter to watch is his unmatched combat IQ, which allows him to outsmart almost any fighter he comes up against. If Goku were nerfed to Krillin's level in Daima, it would potentially lead to a classic rematch between Dragon Ball's greatest pair of best friends. To see Krillin actually beat Goku for once would be a legendary moment in Dragon Ball history that would likely only be possible in a series like Daima.

2 Goku Will Finally be Uub's Size in Daima

The main event of the Peaceful World Saga was Goku's sparring match with Uub, the reincarnation of Kid Buu. Uub was just a child from a remote village who didn't have any formal martial arts training, yet he was already incredibly powerful. Uub's lack of training made him unable to control his ki properly, and he couldn’t even fly yet.

While Goku was far more skilled and powerful than Uub in their initial fight, that might be different now that Goku was changed into a child in Dragon Ball Daima. Goku seems to have lost much of his original abilities as a result of his curse, making him much more on-par with Uub. Unlike in their original match, when Goku was a grown adult, if Goku fought Uub as a kid, he would at least be picking on someone his own size.

1 Trunks and Goten Will be Super Saiyan Infants in Daima

Kid Trunks and Goten’s fight during the Tenkaichi Budokai is a high point of DBZ. It's something of a callback to the great tournament fights of early Dragon Ball, but with all the high-flying, Super Saiyan action of DBZ. In Daima, having these two toddlers duel it out would be particularly interesting because of the circumstances of Daima itself.

In the trailers shown so far, both Goten and Trunks were shown to have been reverted to the forms of infants, which makes sense considering they were far younger than the rest of the cast who has all been made into children. An epic brawl between Super Saiyan babies would be classic Toriyama humor. Perhals even more intriguing than the fight itself for fans will be seeing whether baby Goten and baby Trunks remain bald, or whether they grow blonde hair specifically when they turn into their Super Saiyan forms.
