Jujutsu Kaisen: Gojo's Cursed Techniques, Ranked By Power

In Jujutsu Kaisen, fans are introduced to Satoru Gojo, a special-grade jujutsu sorcerer with striking blue eyes and white hair. Gojo is also a teacher at Jujutsu High, which he uses as his home base. Despite his general lack of respect for the higher-ups and his rather silly demeanor, Gojo is one of the most powerful sorcerers and cursed technique users of the series. Gojo's cursed techniques surpass even the top special grade sorcerers, putting him in a league all his own.

Being a member of the Gojo family, he has inherited certain abilities through his bloodline, the most notable of them being the fabled Six Eyes. As a result of this, Gojo can come off as arrogant and judgmental when it comes to the strengths and weaknesses of others. That said, Gojo is the first member of his family in four hundred years to possess two very powerful cursed techniques, cementing his reputation as the most powerful sorcerer.

Updated on May 17, 2024, by Ajay Aravind: Jujutsu Kaisen has numerous overpowered characters, but nearly all of them pale in comparison to Satoru Gojo. Sukuna is probably the only one capable of fighting him on even grounds, although that fight could end either way. At this point in the anime, however, Gojo is clearly the strongest character in JJK. As such, we've updated this article with some more relevant information.

10 Curtain Is Often Used To Create Covert Exorcism Conditions

Debut: Episode 4 "Fearsome Womb"

Jujutsu Kaisen: Gojo's Cursed Techniques, Ranked By Power

Gojo has immeasurable cursed energy, the basic requirement for mastering all his techniques, both inherited and otherwise. Although he isn't seen using ordinary spells very often, Gojo is quite proficient with Curtain. This technique allows him to generate a barrier around a specific locale, increasing or decreasing the size accordingly. Interestingly, those trapped inside Curtain will the sky go dark and cursed spirits emerge from the shadows.

Other Notable Users

In fact, this technique can be modified with special binding curses, like when the villains generated a Curtain to keep only Gojo out of the Goodwill Event. That said, most sorcerers employ Curtain in order to create covert conditions so they can exorcise cursed spirits without prying eyes. Gojo has used Curtain a couple of times — notably when he accompanies Yuta on the latter's first mission. Given how commonplace Curtain is, however, it ranks as the weakest of Gojo's many abilities.

9 Reverse Cursed Technique Took A Long Time For Gojo To Learn

Debut: Episode 4 "Fearsome Womb"

Jujutsu Kaisen: Gojo's Cursed Techniques, Ranked By Power

There are two types of energy in Jujutsu Kaisen: cursed energy and positive energy. Both of them function as antitheses to each other, allowing sorcerers a far greater range of abilities when using them together. To achieve the Reverse Cursed Technique, the user must convert negative cursed energy into positive energy in order to gain access to this ability. The process is actually quite difficult and few sorcerers have mastered it.

Other Notable Users

Gojo is one of those few, although he also found it impossible until he became a second-year student and met Toji Fushiguro. He perfected the technique after he was almost killed by Toji Fushiguro, using it to heal the fatal wounds on his neck and body. Gojo can also apply his Reverse Cursed Technique to fuel his Limitless Technique, further boosting his attack potential.

8 Gojo Still Hasn't Used The Black Flash Technique In The Anime

Debut: Episode 19 "Black Flash"

Jujutsu Kaisen: Gojo's Cursed Techniques, Ranked By Power

Black Flash is a technique that more than doubles the destructive power of the user's physical hit. However, this technique can only be activated if cursed energy is employed within a millionth of a second following a physical strike. During this phenomenon, the user's cursed energy flashes black, and the user becomes increasingly aware of their cursed energy.

Other Notable Users

Achieving Black Flash requires an incredible amount of concentration and cannot be done at will. It is assumed that Kento Nanami holds the record for consecutive uses of Black Flash, at least until Yuji Itadori comes along. Gojo is obviously capable of using this ability, although he has yet to do it in the anime. In a later manga fight, however, Gojo generates Black Flash to great effect.

7 Six Eyes Is One Of The Strongest Abilities In Jujutsu Kaisen

Debut: Episode 7 "Assault"

Gojo inherited Six Eyes through his bloodline, although the trait has not manifested in the family for more than 400 years. Little is known about Six Eyes except that the wielder can use it to master the Limitless technique. Six Eyes grants Gojo incredible perception, allowing them to manipulate cursed energy at the atomic level, as well as the ability to use cursed energy more efficiently. Further, Six Eyes increases Gojo's mental prowess, allowing him to calculate, analyze, and formulate an attack within a matter of seconds.

Trivia

After activating it, Gojo can read the flow of cursed energy to identify a target or predict where an attack is coming from. Although Six Eyes allows Gojo to access his power at its full potential, it also puts a strain on him and can tire him out easily. He keeps his eyes covered to reduce the drawbacks, but he's still able to read the cursed energy flowing around an individual which helps him "see" them.

6 Limitless Allows Gojo To Control Space At A Fundamental Level

Debut: Episode 2 "For Myself"

Limitless is a cursed technique that allows Gojo to manipulate space at will. Gojo inherited the Limitless technique from his family, but it can only be truly mastered by one who also possesses Six Eyes. Through cursed energy manipulation, Gojo has perfect control over space at the atomic level. In other words, he can effectively alter or modify the fabric of space to suit his needs.

Trivia

Limitless also takes an extremely abstract concept like mathematical infinity and brings it to life. Limitless is the base level and serves as the foundation for four other cursed energy techniques — Neutral, Strengthened, Reversed, and Colliding. Satoru Gojo can also exploit Limitless to perform teleportation. He travels dozens of miles to fetch Yuji, hoping that the young student can learn something from Gojo's battle with Jogo.

5 Infinity Doesn't Stop Things As Much As Slow Them Down Infinitely

Debut: Episode 2 "For Myself"

Jujutsu Kaisen: Gojo's Cursed Techniques, Ranked By Power

Infinity is the neutral variant of Limitless. Although it looks like incoming projectiles are stopped in mid-air, they're actually being slowed down infinitely. By taking the space between two things and dividing it an infinite number of times, an invisible barrier is created. Anything that attempts to enter the barrier is slowed down to the point where it seems to stop completely.

Trivia

The barrier acts as a protectant for Gojo and can be expanded to keep attacks and enemies away. Gojo first exhibits Infinity in front of Jogo, mocking the Special Grade Cursed Spirit by making him touch his hands in the middle of battle. Gojo later uses Infinity to crush Hanami into a purple paste, proving that he can extend the range of the technique as he sees fit. That said, even Infinity pales in comparison to the strongest abilities in Gojo's arsenal.

4 Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue Creates A Magnetic-Like Attraction

Debut: Episode 20 "Nonstandard"

Jujutsu Kaisen: Gojo's Cursed Techniques, Ranked By Power

By increasing the cursed energy output of Limitless, the Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue creates a magnetic-like effect. In an attempt to fill in the negative space, the world corrects itself by pulling all objects in the vicinity together like a giant vacuum. If Gojo produces a point of gravity within a specific space where matter is being pulled together, it crushes everything together to the point where it becomes like a black hole.

Trivia

Gojo can apply the technique to himself to move at high speeds or create a field around him that forces attraction away from them. The low and medium yields of Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue are quite powerful on their own, but the Maximum Cursed Output is by far the strongest variant. Gojo first uses this while fighting Toji, but it doesn't really work because he can't sense Toji's cursed energy.

3 Cursed Technique Reversal: Red Was Revealed When Gojo Fought Toji

Debut: Episode 7 "Assault"

Jujutsu Kaisen: Gojo's Cursed Techniques, Ranked By Power

Cursed Technique Reversal: Red is the exact opposite of Blue — divergence instead of convergence. Instead of forcing matter together, Red generates the power to repel by infusing reversed cursed energy into the power of Limitless. This ability manifests as a red orb that releases twice as much energy output as Blue.

Trivia

This explosive technique is extremely complicated even among the most talented members of the Gojo family, as it requires precise manipulation of cursed energy. Users of the Six Eyes and Limitless were known to have trouble with Cursed Technique Reversal: Red, further cementing Gojo as the greatest sorcerer in his already prestigious clan. Gojo uses Red during his second and final battle with Toji, slyly implying that even death is incapable of bringing him down.

2 Hollow Technique: Purple Is The Devastating Combo Of Red & Blue

Debut: Episode 20 "Nonstandard"

To achieve Hollow Technique: Purple, Gojo merges the convergent forces of Blue and the divergent forces of Red. When the forces of repulsion and attraction are combined perfectly, both infinities collide creating an imaginary mass that takes the target out of reality. The size of the resulting orb varies depending on its use and intended purpose, but anything within the path of Purple is instantly erased regardless.

Trivia

Hollow Technique: Purple is first tested against Toji Fushiguro, and even the nefarious Sorcerer Killer proves to be no match for the newly awakened Gojo. He also uses it against Hanami, with the purple orb carving an enormous path through the forest. However, the Cursed Spirit manages to escape exorcism by unknown means. Gojo also uses Hollow Technique: Purple later in the manga.

1 Gojo's Ultimate Ability Is The Domain Expansion: Unlimited Void

Debut: Episode 7 "Assault"

Satoru Gojo's Domain Expansion Technique, known as Unlimited Void, is the space occupied by Limitless. This three-dimensional area looks much like outer space, with scattered stars, galaxies, and even a black hole hovering in the midground. An opponent trapped within this nonspace is utterly overwhelmed with endless information passing through their brains. They never have the time to process the information flying at them, forcing their nervous systems to eventually shut down.

Trivia

As a result, Gojo's enemy remains paralyzed by the experience, entering an immobilized state as they slowly die. Gojo activates Unlimited Void from within Jogo's Coffin of the Iron Mountain, effortlessly eroding the villain's Domain Expansion before tearing his catatonic head off. Although Unlimited Void is easily the strongest Gojo ability on this list, there is maybe one technique in Jujutsu Kaisen capable of matching it — and it doesn't belong to Satoru Gojo.
