Jujutsu Kaisen May Soon Be Announcing Official News on Its Culling Game Arc Anime

In late December 2023, the official Jujutsu Kaisen anime website announced that the "Culling Game Arc" would be adapted into a sequel anime. However, there was no confirmation whether the highly-anticipated story would be adapted for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 or possibly be turned into an anime movie a la Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Sunghoo Park, director of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1, revealed that the anime TV series almost began with the official prequel story by series creator Gege Akutami before deciding to turn it into a movie with new and extended scenes. Park left studio MAPPA in 2022 and is currently working on the Ninja Kamui anime series for Adult Swim’s Toonami block.

Jujutsu Kaisen's Massive Success Has Been Marred by Reports From MAPPA Staff

While Jujutsu Kaisen has gone on to become the most in-demand anime series of 2023, its reputation has been harmed by various reports of poor working conditions for artists during Season 2 production. The departure of Park and Chainsaw Man anime director Ryu Nakayama, along with freelance artists swearing to never work with MAPPA again, add credibility to these claims. Although fans were still impressed with the animation output of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, major moments like Ryomen Sukuna vs. the Divine General Mahoraga were negatively impacted by tight production deadlines and were essentially redone for the home media release.

The Jujutsu Kaisen anime series is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll, Disney+ (via Hulu) and Netflix. New chapter releases with English translations on Viz Media and the Manga Plus app are also available, along with previous chapters. Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox and PC.
