Oasis x Naruto Collab Turns the Knucklehead Ninja Into an Annoying Orange

Naruto Uzumaki has always been known as the knuckleheaded ninja in questionable orange attire. Now, he literally becomes one in a collaboration between Oasis Be Fruit and Naruto: Shippuden.

The Oasis Be Fruit company recently uploaded a commercial featuring the main cast of Naruto: Shippuden. However, this animated ad depicts Naruto and his friends as comically designed fruit causing hilarious mishaps all over the Village Hidden in the Leaves. The commercial was made to promote a new and limited lineup of fruit-flavored drinks based on Team 7.

As one would expect, the flavored drinks correspond with the new fruit designs of Team 7. Sakura Haruno is Strawberry Raspberry. Sasuke Uchiha is Peach Ice Tea. Kakashi Hatake is Apple Black Currants Rasberry. Finally, Naruto -- or "Narutorange" -- is a tropical-flavored beverage. The Oasis x Naruto: Shippuden commercial was animated by French animation studio Wizz. It was also co-directed by Vic Chhun and Leyla Kaddoura. Previously, the two directed the animated trailer for the 2022 indie game Potion Craft: Alchemist Simulator. Full credits for the imaginative Naruto commercial are listed in Wizz's official Instagram post, where the company has thanked everyone who contributed to the ad.

Naruto Is in a State of Suspended Animation

Although the Naruto fruit commercial will undoubtedly entertain most fans (and possibly get them interested in Fruit Ninja), it will also likely remind them of the odd state the Naruto animation franchise is in currently. Boruto: Naruto Next Generations came to an end in 2023. The four-episode specials intended to celebrate the Naruto anime's 20th anniversary were delayed from their intended air date of Sept. 3, 2023. As of writing, there has been no further updates from studio Pierrot on when fans can expect these nostalgic Naruto specials. The most recent animated production that Naruto fans got to be excited about was an unofficial fan adaptation of Naruto: The Whorl Within the Spiral.

The Naruto Anime Could See a Return Under the Newly-Announced PIERROT FILMS

Nonetheless, recent comments from Studio Pierrot's anime producer Yoshihiro Tominaga suggest where the future of the Naruto anime lies. The establishment of PIERROT FILMS to produce the upcoming season of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War at a faster pace but at the same high quality as its anime competitors like Demon Slayer or Jujutsu Kaisen suggests that Pierrot is trying to create a more efficient production pipeline for its franchises. A special Boruto x Naruto illustration from the animation team also makes it clear that Pierrot hasn't forgotten about the iconic Shonen Jump series.
