One Piece's Chopper Is Now Available Worldwide in New & Adorable Tamagotchi Form

Bandai's charming One Piece Tony Tony Chopper Tamagotchi has now become available worldwide. The "Choppertchi," a special new Tamagotchi model, lets players raise a portable, pixelated version of One Piece’s Chopper the reindeer.

The Chopptertchi is part of a delightful collaboration between Japanese toy company Bandai and the One Piece franchise. The Tamagotchi was previously released in Japan as part of One Piece’s 25th anniversary and has recently become available globally via Amazon. The Choppertchi is available in two adorable models, with either a Going Merry shell or a New World one.

One Piece's New "Chopptertchi" Tamagotchi Comes in Going Merry and New World Versions

The Going Merry version of the new toy, currently priced at US$24.99, is modeled after the Straw Hat Crew’s first ship, with the Chopper Tamagotchi screen right at the helm. The toy's New World version is modeled after Chopper’s iconic pink hat and yellow-striped shirt, complete with cute mini versions of his antlers and hooves. Chopper’s name is also underneath the Tamagotchi screen. This latter model is only slightly more expensive at US$25.94 as of writing.

Like all Tamagotchi toys, the Choppertchi requires regular care. Users can feed Chopper cotton candy, rice or boned ribs. There are also mini-games available to keep Chopper entertained, including "Catch the Candy" and "Scope." Depending on game performance, there may be special appearances from One Piece characters Zoro and Luffy, and players can even potentially win a special straw hat for Chopper. Different types of gameplay will affect the future of the Choppertchi, with the character able to evolve into Heavy Point, Guard Point or Kung Fu Point.

Bandai's Tamagotchi Nano Has Also Released Models for Hello Kitty, Jujutsu Kaisen & More

This is one of several collaborations in Bandai’s Tamagotchi Nano collection, which pairs the classic Tamagotchi with popular media franchises. The Tamagotchi was originally released by Bandai in 1996, becoming one of the most influential toys of the 1990s. Its addictive nature, combined with its portable model, made the Tamagotchi extremely popular and one of Japan’s most popular cultural exports in the late '90s and early 2000s. The toy made a resurgence with the Nano collection, attracting both collectors and specific franchise fans. Previous big-name anime and Japanese pop culture collaborations have included the likes of Hello Kitty, Spy x Family, Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer.

The Choppertchi is available for purchase now on Amazon. The One Piece anime is available to stream on Netflix, Hulu, Crunchyroll and Prime Video. Its ongoing original manga can be read in English via Viz Media.
