Sailor Moon Reignites the '90s With International Release of Gorgeous Transformation Jewelry Line

The iconic Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon anime reignites the '90s with the release of gorgeous transformation-themed jewelry, with even international fans able to snag some.

The official Sailor Moon Store released a new collaboration with accessory brand Liquem, featuring a massive array of jewelry from Pretty Girl Sailor Moon (1992) and Pretty Girl Sailor Moon R (1993). With the theme of "90s Passion," fans can purchase accessories like the Transformation Brooch Ribbon Earrings for $39 or the Crystal Star Compact Earrings for $42, or a selection of rings, and necklaces like the Moonstick Necklace for $40. Readers can check out images of the gorgeous collection below, and head to the Liquem site to register their interest ahead of its official launch at 11 AM (JST) on May 16, 2024.

Excluding the Transformation Brooch Ribbon Ring pictured first, the other rings are exclusive to specific stores. The rose gold rings can be purchased from Liquem, while the regular gold versions are exclusive to the Sailor Moon Store. The collection was overall teased: "The accessories capture the enthusiasm and longing of those days when Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon first appeared in the world, giving shock and dreams to girls in Japan and abroad."

Despite Sailor Moon airing over 30 years ago, the appeal of magical girl anime is still felt in the present. Fellow anime Cardcaptor Sakura released a new gold jewelry set this week, while Sailor Moon's new collection with Liquem marks their fifth. The franchise overall has been incredibly active, reopening the world's only permanent Sailor Moon store last month, which saw the store-exclusive "Disguise Pen," "Cutie Moon Rod," and "Moon Stick" jewelry set followed by the extensive RoseMarie seoir's x Sailor Moon collaboration, featuring jewelry, dresses and other fashion and home-related items.

Ultimately, it's not just jewelry bringing back the Sailor Moon's unique 90s aesthetic. VIZ Media finally confirmed the release date of the original anime's fifth season, Sailor Stars. Meanwhile, the recent conclusion of the anime remake Sailor Moon Cosmos to great reception has sparked a conversation about the future of the series. The CBR feature What's Next for Sailor Moon After Cosmos? explores how Sailor V and more could benefit from an adaptation.
